SAY NO To Polluting Beautiful Sherbrooke Lake, NO Sherbrooke Lake Public Park and Boat Launch!

MoDL buys MoDC land for park!

Angry before? How about now?
MoDL bought land for their park/boat launch, right next to our tranquil Beaver (Turtle) Cove, on OUR side, in the municipality of Chester! Chester council released a scathing statement today, condemning the underhanded dealings of MoDL.

"...disappointment in MODL’s decision-making process..." - Chester Council

See the location here, and MoDC's full press release here.

'Oppose' is a VERB

Opposing the proposed boat launch/park type development is great, but you have to actually oppose it TO those who would do the thing you are opposing. You have to actually make a statement. Silent opposition doesn't accomplish anything.

The Municipality of the District Of Lunenburg (MoDL) has targeted Sherbrooke Lake in their clumsy, ill-conceived, "Open Space Strategic Plan", ignoring documented water quality studies, refusing to acknowledge wildlife and other environmental impacts, safety and many other concerns. Now the Municipality of the District of Chester (MODC) is an accessory by allowing MoDL dictate to them.

Attend the next Sherbrooke Lake Public Access Advisory Committee meeting, and Say NO! to the proposed public park and boat launch!

Sherbrooke Lake is currently a borderline healthy ecosystem, with several private Nature Conservancies along its' shores. Additional environmental pressures could easily represent a tipping point. Sherbrooke Lake Algae Report

Additional motor boat access will further stress the lake, and algal blooms will follow, closing the lake every summer, for weeks at a time (just like Lake Torment), negatively impacting your property value. For the surrounding non-lakefront communities, this means fewer tax dollars for community services. This is bad for everyone.

Pollution will result from the proposed Sherbrooke Lake Public Access Advisory Committee's proposed boat launch. Stand up and Say NO!

FACT: Algae and other contaminants are carried on boats trailered from lake to lake.
FACT: 10 L of outboard fuel produces 2.1 Kg of toxic & carcinogenic hydrocarbons.
